This Mediterranean Revival house was in need of a full remodel. The layout of the house would have to be completely rethought to create a home for today’s lifestyle.
To open up the house, the courtyard was redesigned and became the central connecting element. The kitchen and living room were moved to the lower floors, with glass walls providing access to the courtyard. A double-high glass opening was added to improve the connection between the floors. The kitchen was now located in the center of the house, and a new grand stairway simplified the connection between the levels.
The interior renovations and finishes took inspiration from the Spanish revival style of the house. Vintage glamour was combined with modern simplicity. A limited color palette of black and white, wood and stone, created a sense of richness while maintaining a calm and modern atmosphere. The sweeping arches of the house were preserved and reimagined, blending curves with clean lines. The courtyard was transformed into an inviting outdoor living space with a fireplace, lounge furniture, and an outdoor shower. Glamour was brought back, but with a minimalist touch.
